Winter Nails 2015

Winter Nails 2015

It’s that time of year. The leaves have fallen, the weather is getting frosty, and I’m starting to feel festive. So naturally being a bit of a nail polish nut my nail polish changes. I love to incorporate the sparkle, the shimmer and the frostiness of the season. Yes, I am a big kid.

Funnily enough, I found it easier to pick my seasonal favourites for Winter. I just picked the shades I have worn frequently during the Winter and Festive months on Instagram. I had my clear favourites and wore them all the time. All I had to do was check my Instagram posts to see what were my faves. I’ve also been tweeting a sneak peek Winter Nails of the day. (I’ve linked any Swatches Photos from my Instagram and they’ll open in a separate browser window.)

Et Voila!

DEBORAH LIPPMANN – GOOD GIRL GONE BAD

The rich red reminds me of mulled wine and the polish dries down to a semi-matte finish. I like to add a glossy top coat most of the time as it dries down to an almost matte finish. It lasts for ages compared to my other polishes, which I’m guessing is the down to the shimmer, and instantly makes me feel festive. I prefer to do one or two thicker coats.

DEBORAH LIPPMANN – CLEOPATRA IN NEW YORK

I was all about the black nail varnish. But the gold glitter makes me think of old Hollywood glamour. It didn’t look much like it does it the bottle until I applied a black base coat beforehand. It really helps. This could be great for an evening nail. Although I wear it during the day.

LEIGHTON DENNY – JAILBIRD

Leighton Denny is one of my favourite brands for nail polish. They are consistent in their quality, lasting power and finish. The choice of shades is also immense. Jailbird is a lovely ethereal green and I don’t think I have anything like it in my collection. Reminds me of Christmas Tree ornaments.

LEIGHTON DENNY – BEST SELLER

A lovely red carpet red with subtle shimmer. I love it when they catch the light, as the particles are so fine that it’s not an obvious or over-the-top glitter look. You could wear this on your nails to work and not look out of place. But the same can be said for the evening in the dim light when it catches the shimmer. I’m always looking at my nails when I’m wearing this.

BUTTER LONDON – LILLIBET’S JUBILEE

If you followed me on Instagram in the past year you’ll have seen this a few times. You may recognise this from my Spring Nails post earlier in the year. I love it that much and it is perfect for a subtle shimmery look in the Winter. It’s chic and makes me think of cake frosting, Winter Frost and Christmas time.

NO7 – DISCO BALL

I got this last Christmas in the No7 Advent Calendar and wore it as a Ring Finger colour. But this year I’m thinking I’ll apply it to the whole hand. Another glitter polish that is tightly packed and doesn’t need fifty coats to get the desired effect. I love that about this polish.
