With the weather starting to get better, April started off with a post about being nominated for The Liebster Award which I was very excited about. After all, Life Beauty Lens wasn’t even a month old yet. I also had trouble deciding what to paint my nails. Which happens frequently.
If you read my previous Instagram Diary post for March you’ll know that I’m a fan of having painted nails and have a fair few to choose from.
I’d forgotten about thing online where you could create an avatar of yourself as a Powerpuff Girl. Although, I think I look more like Stewie Griffin than Bubbles.
Since first trying out the Graze Box that I mentioned in March’s post (with a code to get your 1st, 5th and 10th boxes free) I’ve been trying out similar recipes myself. One of my favourites is Black Peper Pistachios. It’s simply pistachio nuts out of their shell in a bowl and sprinkling cracked black pepper over them. Quick, yummy and easy.
I decided to reorganise my nail polish collection and to redo the stickers that I use to show the shade of the bottle on the lid. Makes it easier to pick the colour you want.
I also posted a Pinterest pic of some marshmallows that looked like clouds. They’d be perfect for a cosy hot chocolate. The other missing image is a gif from the movie Heathers (1988). I love that film. There’ll be an 80’s movie post coming soon by the way.
This week I ran out of my favourite under eye concealer pen. This was quite something as I hadn’t found anything this good in years. Then I found out that Nip + Fab had discontinued it! But it’s all ended well as I found a get replacement for £2.
I’d been using the same makeup that week including the Mally Barely There Collection and was loving it. I still am and couldn’t help myself this month (May) when I saw Mally had a TSV. I’m positive there’ll a review on that once it’s arrived and I’ve had a chance to try it all out.
You can see the results of the shake up in my nail polish collection. I can’t even blame this on blogging. I’ve always had a penchant for nail polish. But it looks better, doesn’t it?
I was starting to post more TV and Film related content this month and I was really happy about that. As I was starting to find my groove and posting consistently twice a week. This week’s Friday Faves was all about the TV shows I’d been loving. Including a Norwegian show.
The missing image is a Jim Carrey gif as I had just posted the 5.. Jim Carrey Films That You May Have Missed. It’s been really well received and I’ve enjoyed responding to everyone’s comments and tweets about it. There are so many great films to choose from and limiting myself to only five was a challenge.
After months of searching for pretty ear jackets or swing earrings, depending on where you are, I finally had a few that I was loving. One pair from ASOS and another from Next. Plus, they were a great fit for my ears. I’d never realised how small my ear lobes were till I started looking for these types of earrings.
Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon was on the telly. It’s one of my favourite Kubrick films and it’s beautiful to watch.
Apart from the torrential rain in the middle of the week, it seems to be all coffee and makeup favourites during these few days. Seems fitting for the week that I wrote my Spring Edit: Makeup post. I hadn’t noticed that till now. That’s one of the great things about these Instagram Diaries and looking back on what happened.
I ran out of one of my favourite BB Creams this week as well. The Tea Tree BB Cream by The Body Shop (Review Here). I scraped as much out of the packaging as I could.
I’ve been loving the Nails Inc Nailkale Superfood base coat for strengthening my nails. It has to be one of the best I’ve ever tried.
I started to change the look of the blog. I’d been wanting to do this since launching but had been thinking about what I wanted.
Although I liked the black and gold theme it felt a bit dark and oppressive. I wanted something lighter and fresher. Maybe, I was inspired by the season.
I picked up another Leighton Denny nail polish in my favourite colour, blue. I’m still loving this shade. Can’t go wrong with Leighton Denny. If you’ve not tried his polish before I’ve written about a few of my nail posts. (Here).
I also managed to heat style my hair for the first time since it fell out after my kidney failure. It’s started growing back but it’s still a job of managing it. So of course, I had to use an excited Kermit gif.
This week’s posts were about the essence makeup I’d tried for under £2 and my Friday Faves, which was about the Before Sunset trilogy. As I’d watched them on the telly that week and remembered how much I loved them.
Towards the end of the month, the weather was becoming more consistently like Spring and I couldn’t help myself with taking photos of the blue sky. It was a great week to use the lovely notecards Anna from Life in the Slow Lane with M.E sent me last
As well as being the week of the Queen’s 90th Birthday it was also the week when Comedienne Victoria Wood died. It’s incredibly sad and a real loss.
If you’ve read the About Me page you’ll have seen that I’m a lover of languages and although I’m focusing on my German at the moment I would love to be able to speak multiple languages. So, I posted 5… Ways to Learn a Language. Tips and tricks I’ve found helpful, broken down into 5 different categories.
Loving the Library of Fragrance Cologne in Peach, and sadly running out of it, I was still enjoying the lovely weather. I posted about The Library of Fragrance and my collection of their lovely fragrances.
I had unknowingly broken my Makeup Revolution Blush. Yes, I’m clumsy. But I had no idea how I managed to do this.
This month I’d had such a lovely response from my readers and followers on social media that I felt I had to say a big thank you. I’d love to do a giveaway in the near future so stay tuned for that.
The Sunshine didn’t last, however, and in the last few days in April, I posted my 5… German Language Films post. This was another difficult one to write. Why do I limit myself to five? Although, I have to say that I sometimes think that when you limit yourself to a small number that you’re more considerate about what you choose to include.
Thank you so much for reading. How was your April?
