Summer Edit: Nails

Summer Edit: Nails

It’s time for the second instalment, Summer Edit: Nails. If you missed the first post in the series that was all about summer skin essentials. You can catch it here.

I love a good nail polish and it’s fun to mix it up a bit for the new season. It’s now the first of July and I had hoped for some long awaited sunshine after all the rain we’ve been having. But no such luck. So, I’ll make my nails all summery instead.

Leighton Denny

Leighton Denny is one of my all time favourite brands when it comes to nail polish. The quality is consistently brilliant and I always feel that I’ve gotten my money’s worth. Leighton Dennys Crystal Finish top coat is my favourite top coat out of the myriad of ones that I’ve tried.

The full sizes tend to be about £11 each (12ml). I bought Desert Rain from M&S for £12. Although, QVC have Leighton Denny on their with great deals often and places online or TKMAXX stock them. So it’s worth having a nosey.

(In order from left to right).

Get Your Cote

When I dream of summer I think about swimming pools and this is a gorgeous swimming pool blue. Even the name evokes an image of being poolside.

Two coats is enough to give my the desired effect and it lasts really well. Especially under Leighton Denny’s Top Coat.

Desert Rain

If you can’t already tell, I love Blue. This vivid, I want to say electric, blue is gorgeous and I love looking at it on my nails. It’s one of those shades that makes me happy when I wear it and I get compliments on the colour as well. Which is always nice.

I Love Juicy

Another one that people seem to notice when you wear it. It’s also a vivid shade but without being fluorescent.  This orangy-red is perfect for the toes as well.

Plush Pink

Of course, there had to be a hot pink in there somewhere. Saying that, I’ve been one to be a little wary of the hot pinks before. But this is warm enough to make it really easy to wear on my hands on toes.

Little Tip: If you’re a little unsure of a colour, wear it on your toes for awhile and see how you feel about it. I do this often and sometimes the colour grows on me and I end up loving it.

Barry M

One of my favourite budget friendly brands that is easy to get a hold of. With so many colours and finishes, it would make your head spin. I always tend to be a bit more partial when I see them on a deal like 3 for 2 or a 2 for £5. I love the lasting power and finish of their Gelly nail paints.

Blueberry Gelly Hi Shine

This colour is a more muted swimming pool blue. Which can make it more office friendly. This colour is really nostalgic for me and reminds me of lovely times. Making me like it even more.

Do you have a nail colour, or colour, that evokes happy memories for you?

Guava Gelly Hi Shine

This Blue-green colour leans on the green side for me. It looks like a toned down electric green-turquoise. If that makes any sense at all.

Can you tell what I've been up to again 😊 #LifeBeautyLens

Lottie London

As If

I recently bought this from TKMAXX for only £2.99. I’d never tried Lottie London before and had to look up its cruelty-free status before taking it to the till.

This may look similar to the Leighton Denny, but it’s brighter. The brightest blue I think I own at the moment.

The only thing I’d add though is that it had a tendency to chip when I wore it without a good top coat. This could be because the formula seems noticeably thinner than other polishes. But, I wanted to have this on my nails for another week. I’ll make sure to put a pic on Instagram when I’m wearing it. (@LifeBeautyLens)

No7

I was given this as a gift from a family member and love this sort of packaging for travelling. You wear them how you like and take them with you for top ups or changing it up while you are away.

Cheeky Chops

This is the sort of pink I mentioned before. The brighter, summery shade that’s easy to wear. With or without tan. Even with my pale skin.

Hot to Trot

This is a gorgeous metallic that doesn’t make your nails looks like a glitter ball. A chic and easy to wear bronze that’s the epitome of the Summer months. Whether it’s bronzing your skin with fake-tan or adding more bronzer to your makeup routine, this is a lovely addition.
