I recently went to watch The Woman in Black at the theatre and just had to tell you about it. I had seen the trailer for the show and seen the film but had not read the book beforehand. So, I wasn’t really sure what to expect and I like that when reading a book or watching a film as well. Because I don’t create any expectations or find out any spoilers.
So, I obviously won’t be giving anything away in this post either. If you’ve watched the film it won’t ruin this for you.
The theatre you see it in will help create your own experience of the show. The one I went to wasn’t very old and smaller than I expected. So, when I saw the stage I did wonder how they were going to stage it. What they did was very impressive. The room is kept quite dark and I think it’s a really effective and important part of the show.
The actors that I saw (David Acton, Matthew Spencer) were a fabulous pairing and both gave a great performance. They were really impressive and told the story beautifully. We were still talking about how much we loved their performances days later.
As I said before, I won’t be giving anything away, but the entire cast and production were great. I wanted to watch it again straight away and I’d watch it again tonight I loved it that much.
It’s difficult to explain all the terrific details and performances in the show without, perhaps, giving things away. There’s so much I want to tell you but I let you discover the delicious and scary details for yourself.
I would definitely recommend seeing this show. Whether or not you’re a fan of the book or films. Whether or not you’re a big fan of the theatre.
So if you get a chance to see this while it’s touring I would. You can read more about The Cast and the UK Tour Dates & Tickets on their website. Let me know if you see it and if you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Are there any other shows you’d recommend?
